Hamamönü Art Street
In Hamamönü, the Art Street, built by Altındağ Municipality, consists of traditional Ankara houses restored to be used as an "art center." The 22 historic Ankara houses on Art Street were rebuilt in their original form and have been serving art lovers in Ankara since 2010.
These historic Ankara houses, with workshops on the upper floor and galleries on the lower floor, are allocated to artists who blend traditional and modern arts. Dozens of artists find opportunities to exhibit and sell their work here, and many art forms that are on the verge of disappearing are kept alive in this area.
Dozens of artists working in various art forms such as painting, marbling, calligraphy, tile work, stained glass, ceramics, leatherwork, felt making, silverwork, jewelry making, and many more, have found opportunities to produce, exhibit, and sell their work in the houses allocated to them on "Art Street." Furthermore, many artists teach these art forms to enthusiasts, ensuring their transmission to future generations.
