Required Information
Marriage Application Requirements – Altındağ Municipality
If either or both of the prospective spouses reside within the boundaries of Altındağ Municipality, they may apply together to our Marriage Department.
Required Documents
1. National ID (Identity Card)

Original identity cards must be presented during application and at the wedding ceremony.

IDs must include a photo and must not be older than 10 years.
2. Population Registration Certificate
-
Women who are widowed or divorced must provide a court decision lifting the waiting period (“Iddet Müddeti”) from the Family Court if they apply before the 300-day period expires.
3. Request to Use Maiden Name
-
According to Article 187 of the Turkish Civil Code No. 4721, applicants wishing to retain their maiden name must complete one standard form provided by the Marriage Department.
4. Photographs
-
Four (4) passport-sized photos, taken within the last 6 months, must be submitted.

Photocopies are not accepted.

For photos with headscarves, the forehead and chin must be visible.
5. Health Report

In accordance with Article 136 of the Civil Code, both spouses must obtain a health report from a Family Health Center or Family Physician, confirming that they have no medical conditions preventing marriage.

Each spouse must present their health report separately at the time of application.
Marriage Age
-
Individuals who are 16 years old and have reached 17 may marry with a court decision.

Individuals 17 years old but not yet 18 cannot marry without the consent of their legal guardian.

Those under guardianship must provide a guardian’s approval and court decision.

Parents and/or guardians must be present with their identity cards during application and the wedding ceremony.
Foreign Nationals

Foreign spouses must obtain a Turkish-language Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage from their country’s consulate (excluding Apostille or multilingual documents) and have it approved by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The certificate must clearly state: full name, date and place of birth, parents’ names, nationality, marital status, and that there is no legal impediment to marriage.

The passport must be translated into Turkish by a sworn translator and notarized.

Foreign spouses who do not speak Turkish must bring an interpreter to the wedding.
Important Notes
-
Marriage declarations must be completed using a ballpoint pen, fountain pen, or rollerball pen. Pencils are not accepted. White-out/daksil is strictly prohibited.

Couples are requested to arrive 15–20 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony.

Applications will be canceled if the couple does not arrive on the scheduled day, and no documents will be returned.
