Arslanhane Camii

Located in the Samanpazarı district of Altındağ, the Arslanhane Mosque is a structure dating back to the Seljuk period. Built in the early 13th century during the Ahi period, its first restoration was carried out by Ali Şerafettin between 1289 and 1290. Ali Şerafettin's tomb is also located here. With its lead-covered roof, wooden ceiling and columns, and mihrab covered in Seljuk tiles, it's impossible not to be impressed by this mosque. It is believed that the mosque takes its name, Arslanhane, from the ancient lion statue embedded in the tomb wall. Representing one of the finest examples of Seljuk architecture, the mosque's most recent restoration was carried out by the Altındağ Municipality.
