Located in the Beşikkaya neighborhood of Ankara's Altındağ district, the Altınköy Open-Air Museum brings the village life of Anatolia from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s to the city. Those seeking to escape the stress and noise of urban life often choose Altınköy. The Altınköy project was initiated by the Altındağ Municipality in 2013. As part of the project, all the shanty houses in the area were demolished. Old Anatolian village houses, faithfully recreated, were brought and placed on approximately 500 acres of land. Built by the Altındağ Municipality without a single nail being used, the houses are furnished with the most natural village items. Items collected from different regions of Anatolia are displayed inside and outside the houses according to their condition. The village mosque, laundry, school, bakery, grocery store, coffee shop, suspension bridge, windmill, and watermill transport visitors back to village life 100 years ago. In Altınköy, it's possible to encounter animals such as sheep, lambs, cows, horses, donkeys, birds, deer, gazelles, roe deer, roosters, and chickens. You can also enjoy the freshly baked, fragrant village bread from the village bakery in Altınköy.
